We Ride for Those who Can't

This site is dedicated to the VFW Riders in the state of Illinois, and provides information that will help YOU "stand up" a VFW Riders organization in your post!

Many states have active VFW Rider programs, and Illinois is no exception.  It seems there is a steadily growing interest in VFW Riders here in Illinois.  So we created this website to provide you with the applicable rules, requirements, and sample documents to get YOU on the way to setting up a VFW Rider organization at your post!

                WE ARE NOT TERRITORIAL!
WE ARE NOT A MOTORCYCLE CLUB!

The VFW Riders are organized at the Post level and exist at the discretion of the Post.  VFW Riders are much like any other committee in the Post, similar to a Post's Honor Guard.  They do not keep "separate money" and work to further the goals of their post and the VFW in general.

The purpose of the VFW Riders is to promote the aims, objectives, and purposes of the Veterans of Foreign Wars as a family-oriented motorcycling activity for members of the VFW and VFW Auxiliary.  For God and Country, we associate ourselves together for “fraternal, patriotic, historical and educational purposes” aligned with those of the VFW.  We strive to preserve and strengthen comradeship among our members, to assist our comrades, to perpetuate the memory and history of our fallen, to maintain true allegiance to the United States of America, fidelity to its Constitution and laws, foster patriotism, and to maintain and extend the institution of American freedom.
